Smokeball has genuinely transformed our practice. The automatic time tracking alone increased our captured billables noticeably, the document automation saves hours each week, and the support team has been responsive and knowledgeable throughout. Everything from intake to billing now flows in one place. I recommend it to every solo and small-firm lawyer I meet.
Boosted billables, excellent automation and support
Smokeball does a lot well — automatic time tracking, document assembly, and matter management all work nicely. Where I'm genuinely torn is the cost and the longer-term contract commitment, which is a big ask for a small practice. The features are there, but the value equation depends heavily on your firm size.

We moved our small firm onto Smokeball and the practice management and matter organisation have been excellent. The passive time tracking is the standout feature for us. The only thing that tempered my enthusiasm was that the initial data migration and training took longer than the sales timeline suggested.

My only small complaint is that the reporting could be more customisable, but day to day it's been a dependable tool.
