Cathay Pacific flew me from Hong Kong to Vancouver and the whole experience was seamless. The crew were genuinely warm, the dinner service felt restaurant quality, and my luggage was first off the belt. Their lounge at HKIA with the noodle bar is a highlight I look forward to.
Stellar crew and food
Cathay cancelled my return out of Hong Kong with barely four hours notice and rebooking was a nightmare. I was left on hold for ages and the rebooked flight had me arriving a full day late with no hotel offered. The product is usually good but this disruption was badly managed.
Last-minute cancellation and weak rerouting
I fly Cathay several times a year for work and they rarely miss. Seats are clean, departures are punctual, and the entertainment library is huge. On my last sector they sorted a tight connection in Hong Kong without me even asking. Hard to fault.
Reliable, polished, on time
No complaints about Cathay in the air, the cargo and passenger operation feels well run and the crew are lovely. What I am torn on is how the frequent flyer benefits have been trimmed and award seats are harder to find. Still a good airline, just less rewarding for regulars.
Strong onboard product
Reduced loyalty value
Took the premium economy from Hong Kong to Sydney and it was a noticeable step up for the money. Wider seat, better meal and quiet cabin meant I actually slept. One small gripe is that the boarding announcements were hard to hear over the gate noise.
Good value premium economy
Muffled boarding announcements
