I used Suumo first to rent and later to look at homes for sale, and both times the listings were comprehensive. The saved-search alerts notified me quickly when new properties matched my criteria. Minor gripe is that contacting some agencies still required a phone call.

What I love about Suumo is how much detail each listing provides, from sun exposure direction to local amenities. The new-build and pre-owned home sections are both extensive and well organised. It made buying our first home in Japan far less daunting.
Suumo clearly has the widest range of rentals in Japan and I found several apartments to view. The interface feels a bit old-fashioned and dense compared to newer apps though, and filtering can be fiddly. It works, but it takes patience to get through the clutter.

Suumo is simply the most thorough property portal I have used in Japan. Every listing had accurate measurements, building age and neighbourhood details, which made comparing rentals straightforward. I found and secured a fantastic apartment thanks to it.

Suumo helped me secure a rental in central Tokyo with detailed floor plans and clear rent breakdowns including key money. The commute time estimates from each station were really useful for narrowing choices. Just wish more listings had English support.
