The antivirus does its job, but McAfee bombards me with full-screen alerts pushing upgrades and add-ons that look almost like real virus warnings. Cancelling auto-renewal was deliberately confusing and I nearly got charged the full price. The scare-tactic marketing soured the whole experience.

I'm impressed with how proactive McAfee's real-time scanning is. It quarantined a trojan from an email attachment instantly and the safe-browsing extension keeps flagging phishing pages before I land on them. The performance impact is minimal on my newer laptop.
