Loom has cut down on so many unnecessary meetings for our remote team. Instead of a long call I just record a two-minute screen video and drop the link in chat. My only gripe is the free plan's video count and length limits, which a frequent user hits pretty quickly. Otherwise a genuinely useful tool.

Loom is convenient for quick async messages but I was disappointed that the video compression makes small text on my shared screen blurry and hard for viewers to read. When you are recording a code walkthrough or a spreadsheet, clarity matters, and several teammates complained they could not make out the details.
Loom has become my default for explaining things that would take ten messages to type. One click to record my screen and camera, instant shareable link, and viewers can watch at their own pace and leave timestamped comments. The auto-generated transcript is a lovely bonus. It has genuinely improved how our distributed team communicates.

Compression blurs on-screen text
Loom is great for async screen messages and I reach for it often during the workday. What keeps me torn is that the desktop recorder noticeably heats up my laptop and chews through battery during longer sessions. The actual recordings are fine, the resource usage just is not.

I recorded a detailed walkthrough for a client in Loom and the app crashed right as I finished, losing the entire 40-minute video with no draft saved anywhere. There was no way to recover it and I had to redo the whole thing. For a tool whose only job is reliable recording, this was a serious letdown.
