We embedded Kaleyra's SMS, voice and WhatsApp messaging into our product and the experience has been excellent end to end. The APIs are stable, throughput held up during our biggest launches, and the onboarding team got us live faster than expected. It quietly does its job, which is exactly what you want from a communications layer.
Stable APIs, fast onboarding, reliable at scale
We integrated Kaleyra's SMS and WhatsApp APIs into our app and while messages do go out, the documentation was thin and outdated in places. Our developers burned days reverse-engineering error codes that should have been documented. The service is fine once it's running, getting there was the disappointment.
The actual message delivery on Kaleyra is fine, but the reporting dashboard frequently shows delivery stats hours behind what's really happening. When we're running a time-sensitive voice and SMS campaign, we can't make decisions on stale numbers. Decent pipes, frustrating visibility.
We use Kaleyra for transactional OTP delivery and during peak login hours we saw SMS arriving minutes late or not at all, which locked customers out of their accounts. For an OTP provider, latency like that is a dealbreaker, and the escalation process to get someone to look into it was painfully slow. We've started evaluating alternatives.

Kaleyra has handled our voice and SMS campaigns across multiple countries without a hiccup. The platform's deliverability reporting is detailed, the WhatsApp API integration was clean, and their account team has been responsive whenever we scale up. For cloud communications at this volume, it's been exactly what we needed.
