HughesNet keeps us online and the basic plan is fine for light use. The trouble is the monthly data allowance gets eaten up fast if anyone streams video, and after that things crawl. It does the job for a rural household but you have to ration your usage.

HughesNet does provide internet where the cable companies refuse to go, which I'm grateful for. That said, the satellite latency makes video calls feel laggy and online gaming is basically out of the question. Good for the basics, frustrating for anything real-time.
