The GWM Tank has been brilliant for our camping and off-road trips, with proper four-wheel-drive ability and a rugged feel. It tackles mud and steep climbs that left mates in other SUVs nervous. My one gripe is the touchscreen can lag a little when you first start it on cold mornings.

Honestly did not expect this level of quality from Great Wall Motors at this price. The pickup is comfortable enough to be a daily driver yet still handles serious work on the farm. The hybrid version sips fuel and the long warranty seals the deal for me.

The GWM pickup I bought is genuinely tough and handles loads and rough tracks without complaint. Where I am torn is the fuel economy, which is thirstier than the brochure suggested, and the cabin noise on the highway. Good value workhorse, just temper your expectations on refinement.

My Great Wall Motors SUV came packed with features that cost extra on rivals, from the big touchscreen to the driver assist tech. It has been reliable for the first year and the dealer was helpful at handover. Only minor niggle is that the lane-keep system can be a bit over-eager on country roads.
