I let CCleaner run its registry cleaner on default settings and afterwards my Office apps refused to launch, throwing activation errors. Spent an evening repairing the installation. A cleanup tool should never touch entries that break working software. Lost all trust after that.
Registry clean broke working software
CCleaner does a thorough job clearing junk and the interface is easy enough for my parents to use. My one gripe is how often the free version nudges you to upgrade to Pro with the real-time monitoring. The cleaning works great, I just wish the upsell were quieter.

It clears caches and junk reliably and the scheduled cleaning is handy so I don't have to remember. Happy overall, but during install I had to untick a bundled browser extension I didn't want. Pay attention during setup and it's a genuinely useful utility.
