I do almost all my banking through the Barclays app and it rarely lets me down. Payments, statements and card controls are all a tap away. The in-app chatbot, though, often fails to understand my question and I end up waiting for a human anyway. Small gripe in an otherwise great service.

Barclays has nailed the everyday banking experience for me. The mobile app is fast, the spending insights are actually useful, and transfers land instantly. Add in a responsive branch network when I need real human help and it's hard to fault. Easily my favourite UK bank.
Excellent app, instant transfers
Barclays covers everything I need across retail and a bit of business banking, and the digital tools are strong. Staff in branch have always been courteous and helpful. My only minor complaint is that branch queues at lunchtime can get long, but that's hardly unique to them.

Someone tried to use my card abroad and Barclays flagged it instantly, froze the card, and had a replacement on the way before I'd even noticed. The fraud team was calm and thorough on the phone. That kind of protection is exactly why I bank with them.
Outstanding fraud protection
I've held current and savings accounts with Barclays for years and they've been consistently solid. Recently went through a mortgage with them and while the rate was competitive, the application process dragged on with repeated document requests. Everything else has been smooth though.
