Ordered a tent and sleeping bag ahead of a trek and both were exactly as described. The Gearhead recommendations were spot on for the weight I needed. Return window could be a touch longer, but no real complaints with the actual gear or service.

The range of trail and climbing gear on Backcountry is fantastic and everything I've bought has been genuine and well made. Shipping was quick and the packaging protected my fragile items. Only downside is the prices run a little high unless you catch a sale.

Pricey outside of sales
I placed one order for a down jacket and was charged twice on my card. It took multiple emails and nearly three weeks to get the duplicate charge reversed, which is unacceptable for an order that size. Great gear means nothing if billing is this sloppy.
Double-charged; very slow to refund
I love the breadth of outdoor apparel here and the gear quality is genuinely top notch. That said, the same jacket swung between full price and deep discount within days, which made me feel like I overpaid. Good store, but you really have to time your purchases.
