Avast's malware scanning is reliable and I've never had an infection get through. The trouble is the constant bundling of cleanup, VPN, and driver-updater tools that I never asked for, some of which nag about issues just to sell a fix. The antivirus is solid; the surrounding clutter is not.

Avast has kept my laptop and my mum's PC clean for a couple of years now. Real-time protection runs quietly and the boot-time scan is handy after installing new software. It's only short of full marks because the occasional bundled-offer notification slips through that I'd rather not see.
