Atlan struck the balance we'd been chasing for years between control and usability. Setting up access policies, tagging PII and running data quality checks felt intuitive rather than a compliance chore. The Snowflake and BI integrations surfaced ownership and freshness right where our teams already work. Our data trust scores climbed noticeably within a quarter.
Atlan has become the front door to our data estate and the business glossary keeps definitions consistent across teams. The active metadata that pushes context into our tools is the standout feature. My one gripe is that searching the catalog sometimes surfaces stale or duplicate assets, so a bit more tuning is needed.
We were sold on the column-level lineage, but in practice Atlan failed to parse a big chunk of our dbt and legacy SQL pipelines, leaving gaps right where we needed governance most. Support acknowledged the limitation but had no timeline. For a data governance platform, incomplete lineage undermined the whole reason we bought it.
