Annapurna Interactive consistently backs the kind of imaginative, narrative games that stay with you for years. Outer Wilds is a masterpiece and Stray proved it was no fluke. Their curation is impeccable and I will buy almost anything they put their name on.
Masterful curation of narrative indies
Outer Wilds is one of the best games I have ever experienced and Stray was charming. But Annapurna's ports do not always run well on launch, and I have had frame drops and crashes on more than one of their titles. When the games are this special the rough edges sting more.
Exceptional narrative games
Patchy technical polish at launch
Annapurna Interactive has an incredible eye for emotional, story-driven indies. Outer Wilds left me thinking about it for weeks. My only minor complaint is that their releases can be pricey at launch, so I sometimes wait for a discount.
Deeply emotional, memorable stories
Launch prices a bit high
If Annapurna is publishing something, I know it will have heart. Stray was a lovely few evenings and the soundtrack stuck with me. I just wish they shipped a few more accessibility options at launch rather than in later patches.
Heartfelt, well-crafted titles
Accessibility options arrive late
Annapurna Interactive publishes beautiful narrative games, but I hit a progression bug in one of their titles that locked me out of a chapter for days. Getting any acknowledgement was painful and the fix arrived far later than it should have. For a publisher built on storytelling, an unplayable story is a real letdown.
Gorgeous art and writing
Slow response to a game-breaking bug
